Overview

This powerful interface based on REST resources enables access to the heat pump control for intelligent energy management use cases in a HEMS (home energy management system). All changes can be tracked for control purposes on the heat pump control unit (see the menu path in the tables related to the resources).

The HEMS role description is clustered in the supported features:

  • Common (system detection, general resources)

  • Adjustment of Heat Pump Power

  • Limitation of Power Consumption

  • Hot water temperature control

  • Heating temperature control

Supported use cases include:

  1. Load Shifting for Using Flexibility Offers
HEMS platforms can instruct Bosch Home Comfort heat pumps to operate optimally during periods e.g., of surplus PV energy. This boosts the self-consumption of renewable energy generated by photovoltaic systems, thereby reducing reliance on conventional grid electricity.
  2. Load Shifting for Network Load Optimization The Interface facilitates strategic control of heat pumps to smooth out load peaks and optimize network load during periods of low demand. This functionality supports demand-side management initiatives and contributes to overall grid stability.
  3. Hot water temperature control
HEMS platforms can dynamically adjust hot water production operations based on the most advantageous tariff structures. This empowers households to capitalize on flexible tariff options, effectively reducing energy costs.
  4. Heating temperature control
HEMS platforms can dynamically adapt the room temperature based on the most advantageous tariff structures. This empowers households to capitalize on flexible tariff options, effectively reducing energy costs.
